Global News Reports That In a seminar organized by the Tukur Buratai Research Centre (TBRC), Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai (rtd) emphasized the crucial role of traditional leaders in contributing to the security of Nigeria. Recognizing that traditional leaders have the eyes and ears of the people, Gen Buratai highlighted the importance of information and intelligence in addressing security challenges. He stressed the need for traditional leaders to support the government’s security architecture and ensure the safety of the country.

The seminar, which was held as part of the ongoing TBRC leadership retreat, focused on the theme of traditional institutions and contemporary security challenges in Nigeria. Gen Buratai underscored the significance of collective efforts in mitigating security threats, emphasizing that security is essential for societal development. Without security, progress and growth would be significantly hindered.

During the seminar, His Royal Highness the Emir of Zazzau, H.E Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, emphasized the prevalent issue of insecurity in Nigeria. He called on traditional rulers to prioritize the preservation and promotion of traditional institutions, as well as to act with fairness, transparency, and integrity. Emphasizing the need for collaboration with various stakeholders, including government bodies and the private sector, the Emir highlighted the importance of peace, stability and security in achieving political and economic development.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Ameer of Birnin Gwari, HRH Zubair Jibril Maigwari II, commended the transformational journey of the Nigerian Army under the leadership of General Buratai in Dr. Jibril’s book, which provides a detailed analysis of the Nigerian Army’s advancements during General Buratai’s tenure, was officially presented during the seminar. Global News Reports That Former Miss Commonwealth Nigeria, Nkem Ituludiegwu has announced, with deep sorrow, the passing of her beloved mother, Lady Iyom Okwesileze Adaeze Ituludiegwu. Lady Iyom passed away peacefully at the age of 72.

A British-trained medical practitioner, Lady Iyom was known for her dedication to healthcare and her compassionate service to the community. She met her husband, Sir Ozonkpu Okwudili Mike Ituludiegwu, in England during their academic years. Sir Ozonkpu Okwudili, a distinguished veteran who served in the Royal Navy and later in all arms of the Nigerian Military – the Army, Air Force, and Navy – shared a life of service and commitment with Lady Iyom.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Their daughter, Nkem Ituludiegwu, known for her accomplishments in the Miss Commonwealth pageant, announced the funeral arrangements, highlighting a series of events to honor her mother’s life and legacy.

Global News Reports That The Aare Akinrogun of Ibadanland and former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Yusufu Buratai CFR has described the late 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan Land , Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, as a detribalised Nigerian who lived to serve humanity, Nigeria and the people of Ibadanland. He also described his death as painful”.

Buratai stated this on Saturday, June 8th, 2024 at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan, Oyo State, at the civic reception organized for the late Olubadan by the Oyo State Government .

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

He described the late Olubadan as a responsible king who dedicated his life and time to promote unity and oneness of Nigeria.

Buratai said the death was a great loss, stressing that “we have lost a friendly, jovial, compassionate and loving monarch”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Speaking further, he said ” he did not just accord me respect as an elder statesman, I was also honoured with a chieftaincy title of Aare Akinrogun of Ibadanland and i am proud to be associated with the late Olubadan.

Ambassador Buratai who earlier paid a courtesy visit to the family of another Late Olubadan, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, where he was received by the families and Olori’s of the the Late Olubadan Adetunji, prayed for the family. He informed the family that he was in Ibadan for the final burial ceremony of Late Oba Balogun, and he found it expedient to also visit the families of Late Oba Saliu Adetunji too.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Recalled also that Tukur Foundation a Non-governmental Organization (NGO), also set up a three-day free medical outreach to honour the departed Oba Balogun.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Amb Buratai however pray for the success of the new olubadan too and urge him to build on the legacies of his predecessors.

The suspension of Iluyomade, who also heads the Apapa Family of the church’s annex, came after the elaborate 60th birthday celebration of his wife, Siju.

 

According to a source who spoke with Church Times, the pastor got the letter of his suspension over the weekend and was replaced by Pastor Charles Kpandei of the church’s Resurrection Parish Region 11 with immediate effect.

 

The source added that Iluyomade was suspended for three months by the Governing Council of the church after a panel was constituted to look into the allegations against him and the parish

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

According to a source who spoke with Church Times, the pastor got the letter of his suspension over the weekend and was replaced by Pastor Charles Kpandei of the church’s Resurrection Parish Region 11 with immediate effect

 

 

 

 

 

It would be recalled that his issues almost tore the church apart around February/March 2024 after the death of Herbert Wigwe.

 

 

 

 

 

Also, recently, one Sunday Baruwa instigated a N20bn Suit Against MFM, Dr Olukoya and His Lawyer but was Dismissed last week. Also, one one Pastor Femi Jimoh alleged that MFM and it’s leadership framed him of robbery but the church has now exposed him that he waa not framed but waa caught in thr act.
