Innoson Begins Delivery of CNG Buses to the Federal Government

Global News Reports That Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd (IVM) has initiated the delivery of 25 percent of the 100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered buses ordered by the Federal Government. This is part of the Presidential CNG Initiative, aimed at alleviating the impact of fuel subsidy removal on the masses.

The delivery follows the recent visit of IVM’s Chairman/CEO, Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, to President Bola Tinubu, where the order for the buses was finalized. Chief Chukwuma expressed pride in commencing delivery within two weeks of receiving the order.

Chukwuma emphasized that producing these CNG buses is more than just a business contract; it is a patriotic duty. He pledged to deliver another 25 percent of the buses by next month, as part of the government’s push to promote locally manufactured CNG-powered vehicles.

“We are producing CNG vehicles right here in Nigeria,” said Chukwuma, commending President Tinubu’s belief in homegrown manufacturing. He noted that CNG-powered buses offer lower operational costs and are more affordable to maintain, aligning with the government’s vision of utilizing local resources for sustainable transportation solutions.

Chukwuma reaffirmed Innoson’s commitment to delivering quality vehicles tailored to the needs of Nigerians, including CNG, hybrid, and electric vehicles. He reiterated his company’s role in driving the success of the Presidential Initiative on CNG and ensuring regular delivery of vehicles to the government.

A supporter of Innoson, Chief Christian Anaekwe from Sierra Leone, praised the company’s swift production and delivery of the buses. He also commended President Tinubu for recognizing Innoson’s capacity to produce CNG buses locally, noting that other companies with prior concessions have yet to meet their commitments.

Innoson’s efforts mark a significant step in advancing Nigeria’s alternative energy transportation goals while reinforcing the country’s capacity to produce world-class vehicles domestically.
